Pentagon: First 6 days of Iran war cost over $11.3bn

Pentagon officials briefed lawmakers on Tuesday that the U.S.-led war against Iran has cost more than $11.3 billion in its first six days, according to a source familiar with the classified discussion.

The estimate marks the first detailed figure shared with senators on Capitol Hill since the United States and Israel began airstrikes on Iran on February 28 as part of Operation Epic Fury.

The Pentagon declined to comment but noted through a spokesperson that final costs won't be known until the mission ends.

Reported earlier by The New York Times, the total comes amid ongoing congressional debates over the war's scope, objectives, and a proposed supplemental defense funding package. Some Democrats say they will oppose the measure without more details on the conflict, which has drawn in the broader region.

Separate analyses provide context: The Center for Strategic and International Studies estimated the first 100 hours at $3.7 billion, or about $891.4 million per day. Defense Department figures shared Monday showed $5.6 billion in munitions expended in the opening two days.

U.S. Central Command's Adm. Brad Cooper reported Wednesday that strikes have hit over 5,500 targets inside Iran and taken out or sunk more than 60 Iranian ships.
