Iran boosts oil exports from Kharg Island despite ongoing war

Iran has increased oil exports from Kharg Island despite the ongoing conflict with the United States and Israel, according to Iranian media reports.

State-linked news agency ISNA cited Moussa Ahmadi, head of Iran’s parliamentary energy commission, as saying that recent inspections and meetings on Kharg Island showed exports had not declined but instead risen in recent days.

Kharg Island, located off Iran’s western coast, serves as a critical hub for the country’s oil exports, making it strategically important during the conflict.

US President Donald Trump has recently warned that the island could be targeted if a deal to end the war is not reached and the Strait of Hormuz is not reopened quickly.

Earlier, on March 13, US forces struck military targets on the island but avoided damaging oil infrastructure.

Iranian officials have also raised concerns about a possible US ground operation targeting Iranian islands, issuing repeated warnings against such action.

Tensions have further escalated with the arrival of the USS Tripoli in the region, carrying around 3,500 Marines and sailors, signaling a potential expansion of military operations.
