Pakistan PM invites Prof Yunus, seeks deeper ties with Bangladesh

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has invited Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus to visit Pakistan, during a meeting on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York on Wednesday.

The discussion focused on strengthening economic ties and expanding bilateral trade between the two countries, Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam told reporters, according to UNB.

Prof Yunus began by expressing condolences to Pakistan over the recent devastating floods, while Sharif attributed the disaster to climate change and related factors.

The meeting comes shortly after both nations reaffirmed in August their commitment to boosting bilateral cooperation built on mutual respect, shared interests, and people-to-people benefits.

Also present at the meeting was National Security Adviser Dr Khalilur Rahman.
