Bangladesh, Malaysia sign MoU to boost trade and investment ties

Bangladesh and Malaysia have taken a major step toward deepening their economic partnership with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) and the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE).

The agreement was formalized on Saturday at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) in Kuala Lumpur, according to an official press release.

On behalf of their respective sides, Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz, Chief Executive Officer of MATRADE, and Baby Rani Karmakar, Director General of EPB, signed the MoU at the ceremony.

The accord sets out a framework for stronger collaboration in trade and investment, marking a new phase of cooperation between the two countries. Both sides expressed optimism that the agreement would pave the way for more diversified and sustainable economic engagement.

Key goals of the MoU include expanding exports, fostering new avenues for business opportunities, and consolidating the long-term economic partnership between Malaysia and Bangladesh.

Officials from both countries described the deal as a “landmark” moment that will open new prospects for private-sector collaboration while reinforcing government-to-government economic ties.
