Bangladesh expects $1.3bn IMF instalment by July

Finance Minister of Bangladesh, Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury said the country is expecting to receive the next $1.3 billion instalment from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) by July.

Speaking to reporters at the Secretariat after meeting IMF Asia and Pacific Department Director Krishna Srinivasan, he said the final discussion on the disbursement will take place during the IMF’s Spring Meetings in Washington this April.

The minister added that the formal review for the tranche is scheduled for July, while the government will continue preparing the national budget in the meantime.
