Canada aims to deepen trade partnership with Bangladesh

Canada has signaled a strong interest in expanding its commercial partnership with Bangladesh, emphasizing a bilateral relationship built on trust, quality and shared economic progress.

In a statement issued by the Canadian High Commission in Dhaka, officials said they are looking forward to strengthening ties as a Canadian delegation visited Bangladesh from November 23 to 25. The team included representatives from Cereals Canada, the Canadian Grain Commission and Alberta Grains, who held a series of market engagement sessions.

During the visit, the delegation hosted the annual New Crop Seminar, where Bangladeshi millers, bakers and wheat importers received updates on Canada’s 2025 wheat crop, including quality features and grading standards. The technical discussions were geared toward supporting informed buying decisions in Bangladesh’s rapidly expanding milling and food-processing industries.

The High Commission noted that Bangladesh is among Canada’s most important markets for high-quality wheat, valued for its consistency and reliable performance. Canadian wheat quality, it added, is backed by advanced scientific research, transparent regulations and a strict quality assurance system from production to export.

Canada highlighted its long-standing cooperation with Bangladesh in agriculture and food security, reaffirming its commitment to supplying dependable, high-quality wheat and offering technical support that boosts productivity, strengthens food security and contributes to Bangladesh’s economic growth.
