Iran refuses to negotiate with US amid escalating tensions
Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, on Monday rejected claims that Tehran had sought to resume talks with Washington, stating that Iran will not engage in negotiations with the United States.
Larijani addressed reports, circulated on X and citing Al Jazeera and The Wall Street Journal, which suggested he had attempted to restart discussions with the US through Oman. He firmly responded: “We will not negotiate with the US.”
In a separate post, Larijani criticized US President Donald Trump for creating regional chaos, saying Trump’s policies have shifted the slogan “America First” to “Israel First,” sacrificing American troops for Israel’s ambitions. He added that Trump is now concerned about further losses of US soldiers and accused him of misleading the public, making American soldiers and their families “pay the price with new lies.”
The remarks come amid a joint US-Israeli military campaign launched on Saturday, which killed several senior Iranian officials, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes across the Gulf, resulting in the deaths of three US service members and serious injuries to five others.
