India successfully test fires BrahMos cruise missile from Indian Navy s stealth destroyer
BrahMos supersonic cruise missile was successfully test fired on Sunday from the Indian Navy's indigenously-built stealth destroyer INS Chennai_ hitting a target in the Arabian Sea_ the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) said on Sunday. The missile hit the target successfully with pin-point accuracy after performing high-level and extremely complex manoeuvres. Before that_The test comes in the wake of BrahMos missile having a range of around 400 km being tested from an integrated test range at Balasore in Odisha on September 30. "BrahMos as  prime strike weapon' will ensure the warship's invincibility by engaging naval surface targets at long ranges_ thus making the destroyer another lethal platform of Indian Navy_" the defence ministry said in a statement. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO)_ the BrahMos Aerospace and the Indian Navy for the "successful" test-firing of the missile.
