The mandatory face mask rule may return in England this autumn if there is a spike in Covid cases.
People over 18 may be told to wear them inside supermarkets_ shops_ and on public transport as a legal requirement.
It comes amid reports that UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson is adamant that another lockdown will not be reimposed_ due to the vaccination programme_ The Mirror reports.
The PM is expected to announce his plan for avoiding a full lockdown including the introduction of Covid jab boosters next week.
He is also expected to reveal that the biggest ever flu jab campaign will be rolled out at the same time.
