Diesel shipments from Malaysia of 34,000 tons arrive at Ctg Port
A fuel-carrying vessel has arrived at Chattogram Port with over 34,000 tonnes of diesel from Malaysia, as Bangladesh steps up efforts to secure energy supplies during ongoing global disruptions.
The ship, “Shan Gang Fa Jian,” reached the outer anchorage at the Kutubdia Channel in the Bay of Bengal on Friday night and is expected to dock soon. Port officials said part of the cargo will be offloaded at the outer anchorage before the vessel moves to the Dolphin Jetty in Patenga.
Another tanker, “Yan Jing He,” has also arrived from Singapore carrying 27,300 tonnes of diesel. It is currently unloading fuel at facilities operated by Padma Oil Company and is scheduled to depart shortly.
Authorities said oil and gas vessels are being given priority at the port to help manage the country’s fuel situation. According to Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation, this is the tenth diesel shipment to arrive at Chattogram since the start of the Middle East conflict.
To maintain stable fuel supplies, Bangladesh is increasingly sourcing energy from countries outside the Middle East, supplementing its existing pipeline imports and diversifying supply routes.
