Bangladesh's remittance inflow rises 7% in October

Expatriate Bangladeshis sent $2.56 billion in remittances in October, marking an increase of nearly 7% compared to the same month last year, according to the latest data from the central bank.

In October 2024, wage earners had sent $2.39 billion, indicating a steady upward trend in foreign currency inflows.

Industry insiders told that Bangladesh has been experiencing consistent growth in remittance receipts since December last year, driven by several key factors.

They attributed the rise to a narrowing gap between official and informal exchange rates, stronger enforcement against money laundering, and a renewed sense of patriotism among expatriates following last year’s political transition.

Analysts said recent stability in the foreign exchange market and improved monitoring of remittance channels have further encouraged migrant workers to use legal channels for sending money home.
