Saudi Arabia to provide $3bn support to Pakistan
Pakistan said Saudi Arabia has agreed to provide $3 billion in financial support to help strengthen the country’s foreign reserves, according to Pakistan’s finance ministry.
The ministry stated that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will place $3 billion in additional deposits, with the funds expected to be disbursed within the coming week.
Pakistan’s finance minister Muhammad Aurangzeb confirmed the development while attending the IMF Spring Meetings 2026 in Washington.
He also noted that an existing $5 billion Saudi deposit would be rolled over for an unspecified period, further supporting Pakistan’s external financing position.
The announcement comes shortly after Pakistan said it had repaid several billion dollars in loans to the United Arab Emirates, highlighting ongoing shifts in its financial arrangements with Gulf partners, including the United Arab Emirates.
