Iran allows safe passage for Bangladesh fuel ships through Hormuz

Iran has approved safe passage for six fuel-carrying ships from Bangladesh that are waiting to cross the Strait of Hormuz, according to Iranian Ambassador Jalil Rahimi Jahanabadi.

Speaking at a press briefing, the envoy said Bangladesh had provided Tehran with details of the vessels and expressed hope that they would soon be able to transit the strategic waterway safely.

He added that Iran views Bangladesh as a friendly Muslim country and is committed to ensuring its fuel shipments are not disrupted.

“Bangladesh is a friend and a Muslim country, and its people are like brothers. Iran does not want Bangladeshis to face any hardships and will provide all necessary assistance for transporting fuel through Hormuz,” he said.

Bangladesh’s Energy and Mineral Resources Division said it has not yet received formal confirmation from Iran but noted that the situation appears to be progressing positively.
