Aid deliveries to Gaza continue for 3rd day via Egypt's rafah crossing

Humanitarian aid trucks resumed deliveries from Egypt into the Gaza Strip on Tuesday for the third consecutive day, according to Egyptian media reports.

The trucks crossed into Gaza through the Rafah border crossing, which is controlled by Egypt, carrying urgently needed food, medical supplies, and other essential relief items for civilians amid the ongoing crisis, Egypt’s Al-Qahera news channel reported.

Egypt is currently facilitating nearly 80% of all humanitarian aid heading into Gaza, the broadcaster added.

On Monday, a limited number of aid trucks were also able to enter Gaza through the same crossing, as the territory continues to suffer from a deepening hunger crisis caused by a long-running Israeli blockade.

Video footage from Anadolu Agency showed a handful of aid trucks making their way into the enclave.

Palestinian officials have emphasized the dire need for increased aid, stating that at least 600 trucks per day are required to meet the basic needs of Gaza’s 2.4 million residents.

Israel has maintained a blockade on Gaza for 18 years and has kept all crossings closed since March 2, effectively halting the entry of aid convoys despite growing international pressure. The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, a controversial group, began distributing aid in late May.

Gaza’s Health Ministry reports that at least 147 people, including 88 children, have died from starvation since October 2023.

Meanwhile, Israel continues its military campaign in Gaza, launched on October 7, 2023, which has so far killed nearly 60,000 Palestinians—most of them women and children—according to local authorities. Israel has rejected global appeals for a ceasefire.

In November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant over alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice over its actions in the enclave.
