Bangladesh seeks to strengthen trade, energy, and tourism ties with Nepal

Bangladesh has expressed a strong desire to deepen its partnership with Nepal across key sectors including trade, energy, agriculture, education, and tourism, as part of its broader commitment to enhancing bilateral relations with the Himalayan nation.
This commitment was reaffirmed during a meeting between Bangladesh's newly appointed Ambassador to Nepal, Md Shafiqur Rahman, and Nepal’s Foreign Minister Dr Arzu Rana Deuba at the Foreign Ministry in Kathmandu on Monday, according to an official message received in Dhaka.
Welcoming the ambassador, Minister Deuba voiced her optimism about further strengthening Bangladesh-Nepal relations and emphasized the importance of increased engagement in the days ahead.
The two sides held extensive discussions on various areas of mutual interest. These included expanding trade and business cooperation, boosting collaboration in energy and power sectors, and exploring new opportunities in agriculture and food security.
They also agreed on enhancing joint efforts in textiles, education, and research, while underlining the importance of promoting tourism, increasing people-to-people contact, and encouraging deeper collaboration between academic institutions and think tanks in both countries.
Ambassador Rahman reiterated Bangladesh’s readiness to work closely with Nepal to advance these priorities and sought continued cooperation from the Nepalese government.
In response, Minister Deuba assured the ambassador of her full support and wished him a successful and productive tenure in Nepal.
