L'Oreal to acquire Gucci owner's beauty division, for $4.6bn

French cosmetics giant L’Oreal will acquire the beauty division of Kering, the luxury group that owns Gucci, in a deal valued at $4.6 billion, the companies announced Sunday.

The agreement includes Kering’s high-end fragrance brand Creed and marks the beginning of a long-term strategic partnership between the two French firms in the luxury beauty and wellness sector. The transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2026, pending regulatory approval.

“With Creed, we will establish ourselves as one of the leading players in the fast-growing niche fragrance market,” said L’Oreal CEO Nicolas Hieronimus.

As part of the partnership, L’Oreal will also gain the exclusive 50-year license to create, develop, and distribute Gucci-branded fragrance and beauty products once the current licensing agreement ends.
